How does the Clean ReCoat Process™ work?

ReCoat Revolution uses our proprietary products to refinish your floors in one day using our exclusive Clean ReCoat Process. This entire floor restoration process costs a third of the traditional wood floor refinishing service. In only a handful of hours, you’ll be able to walk on your newly redone floors.

How long will a 1,000-square-foot project take to complete?

Most 1,000-square-foot projects are completed in just one day, typically within five to six hours. Our streamlined four-step process is designed for maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality which allows you to have your home back and your floors transformed by dinner.

What are my choices in terms of floor sheen?

You may choose from three different sheens: Satin, Semi-gloss, or Gloss The lowest sheen, or shine, is the satin and it is also the most popular among our customers due to the ease of living on a less shiny surface. We advise our customers that the higher the sheen, the less forgiving the appearance will be to showing dust and debris. The price and durability for all our sheens are the same.

No dust or mess, really?

Really! Since our unique process uses a combination of chemical and mechanical abrasion, your floors will not be traditionally sanded, which means no dust is introduced into the air of your home.

How long does the finish last, and is it worth the investment?

With proper care, a ReCoat Revolution finish will keep your floors beautiful for years. Our high-performance polyurethane is specifically designed to withstand heavy foot traffic. It’s the same product we use on gymnasium floors.. To protect your investment, we recommend our professional “Clean Only” service every two years to maintain that signature luster.

Does the furniture need to be moved? If so, who does it?

Yes, please remove everything from the floor project area that must be treated before our arrival. For an additional fee, our team can move some smaller items within your home or clean around larger pieces if you prefer that they are left in place. We also provide contacts for moving companies with whom our customers have worked, if desired. When our estimator comes for your free, in-home estimate, they can discuss other options for moving and storing your belongings. After the service, it is important to gently set items and furniture back into place and not “scootch” them.

Does it really dry that fast?

Yes! Our exclusive, fast-drying finishes dry quickly, allowing you to walk on your floor within a matter of hours. The freshly applied finish will be fully cured within 7 days, so “babying” your floor until then is strongly recommended.

Can I walk on my floors the same day?

Of course! We recommend socks only for up to 24 hours. It is also recommended to minimize and/or eliminate pet traffic for as long as possible. Our furry friend’s nails cause the most damage to wood floors, whether or not they’re new or freshly ReCoated.

Does this process produce a chemical smell or unwanted odors?

Our entire process is eco-friendly and uses proprietary products with ultra-low VOCs. This makes it significantly safer for your family and pets both during and after the service. Because we avoid harsh solvents, homeowners can stay comfortably in the house while we work.

What should I do before my ReCoat Revolution technician arrives for the service?

A few days before your appointment, we will send a confirmation email with helpful tips to prepare you for your ReCoat Revolution experience. Most importantly, we ask that all personal items (e.g., toys, pillows, loose change, breakables, etc.) and all furniture be removed from the floor before we arrive. If larger pieces are not moved, we will complete our process around them.

Can you remove dark stains from pet or water damage?

Our deep-cleaning process effectively sanitizes and removes surface contaminants and germs from these areas. However, dark staining is often the result of a chemical reaction between minerals (like ammonia) and the wood fibers deep beneath the finish. Because our process is a “no-sanding” restoration, we focus on cleaning and protecting the existing wood. Dark stains from pets or water are usually “bruised” deep into the wood grain itself. While our process can often lighten or disguise these spots to make them less noticeable, the total removal of deep, sub-surface stains may require a full sand-and-refinish or board replacement. Please note, even a complete sanding process may not fully eliminate deeply penetrated discoloration. We strive to achieve the best result possible for your specific situation and floor, so we will always perform an in-person, FREE estimate and consult you on the correct solution.

How much should I anticipate spending?

Our signature Clean ReCoat Process typically costs less than half of what you would spend on traditional sanding and refinishing. While a full sand-and-finish can range significantly based on your region, our process provides a high-end, durable result at a fraction of that investment. We charge on a per-square-foot basis to ensure you only pay for the space we transform. Because every floor has a unique history, we pride ourselves on providing a FREE in-home estimate with transparent, itemized, up-front pricing. You’ll know the exact investment before we ever start the project.

Do I have to be home for the service to be performed?

No. Our customers can happily go about their daily activities in and outside of the home. They stay clear of the areas we are working in, but we try to create as few interruptions as possible. Since this service is designed to be as non-invasive as possible, it is entirely up to you if you wish to be home or prefer to leave for the day. Consult with us before the project begins to learn more about what would be best for your situation.

There are outlines on our floors from where rugs used to be. Can you remove them?

Those lines are a natural result of UV exposure, often called “ambering” or “sun-fading”. Because wood is a natural material, the areas exposed to sun lighten or bleach the floor’s tone over time. The wood is protected under a rug and stays its original color. Since this change happens deep within the wood fibers below the surface, no topical floor refinishing process can simply erase years of UV exposure instantly. In addition, it is unlikely any refinishing process will fully remove these lines; time and exposure to the sun’s light have the most significant impact on making them less visible over time.

Where are your locations?

We have locations nationwide to serve homeowners and businesses with expert hardwood and hard-surface floor ReCoating refinishing. To see the most up-to-date list and find a location near you, please visit our Locations page.

Will my floor come out patchy, streaky, or blotchy?

No! Here’s why: our process applies a single uniform coat of polyurethane across the whole floor. Unlike a traditional sand-and-refinish, where sanding boundaries can create visible blend lines, our process leaves a continuous, even surface with no seams to show. Our technicians are factory-trained on our specific process and products. This ensures the finish is applied the same way every time, creating uniformity over the entire floor.

Will you actually show up on the day you said?

Yes. If anything changes (weather, supply delay, a crew call-out), you get a personal call before 8 a.m. the day of your appointment. We know realtors have photographers booked, new homeowners have movers coming, and hosts have guests checking in. A no-show isn’t just inconvenient, it costs time and money. We treat your schedule the way we’d want ours treated.

Won’t you just try to upsell me to a full sand once you get here?

No. We do a free on-site compatibility check before we ever quote, and we consult with you regarding which service will best fit your floor. In most cases, our Clean ReCoat process will address your flooring needs in one day while minimizing cost, disruption, and mess.

I tried Bona spray / Rejuvenate / a scratch-repair pen. Why didn’t it work?

Over the counter “floor restore” and cleaning products are surface-only maintenance coatings which essentially place a thin wax or acrylic layer on your floor. These products only mask dullness for a short time and eventually trap dirt and contaminants between additional coats. A proper Clean ReCoat uses a commercial-grade polyurethane that bonds to your floor via our proprietary process.. If your products have left streaks or uneven patches, we strip those during our preparation steps before the new coat goes down.
